From a teacher who co-taught small group Visualizing and Verbalizing® instruction to 9th and 10th graders:
I started teaching Lindamood-Bell in January 2008 with a healthy dose of skepticism. I had taken LMB district training and taught my own groups in 2007. I had always attributed good results only to the small group environment. My impressions after teaching with Beth McKeon are very different. She demonstrated how Lindamood-Bell should really be taught, with mastery, enthusiasm, and utmost integrity to the program. Beth approached every single class with the same positive attitude and energy. She taught thoroughly from bell to bell. She was never cynical or disheartened and the students knew that. They knew that Beth believed in their success and they rose to the challenge.
From a parent whose child received Visualizing and Verbalizing® instruction:
You have made such a wonderful connection with H.! Your enthusiasm and genuine pride in H.’s accomplishment filled her heart with pure joy. I could see it and feel it during her “show off” sessions. I hope and pray that she continues to hear your “voice” as more academic challenges face her. I have never seen that glow and that joy of learning. It is the best gift I ever received. You rock!
From a parent whose child received LiPS® and Seeing Stars® instruction:
Thank you so much for all of your hard work with M. You are an amazing motivator for M. – and because of that he was able to make HUGE gains and learn to READ this summer! It is so fun to see his confidence and smile just light up his face now that he is an official reader!
From a student who received Seeing Stars® instruction:
Thank you for being such a good teacher to me. I appreciate that you helped me learn how to read. I loved working with you. I really liked all of your games!
From a Lindamood-Bell® colleague:
Beth never failed to impress me with her ability to clearly articulate a plan of action while maintaining a focus on big picture goals. She is both detail-oriented and innovative, which I have found to be a rare and critically important combination. She had a very high level of knowledge in our field which was strengthened by her personal drive to continually improve her own performance. To that end, she sought out collaborations with her colleagues to brainstorm fresh approaches in an intensive environment where children’s needs fluctuate daily, and sometimes hourly. All of her strengths were further supported by unflagging energy and enthusiasm, which was both infectious and inspiring. It was a pleasure to work with Beth, and I would be fortunate to have the opportunity to do so again.
From a Lindamood-Bell® Regional Director:
[Thank you] for creating positive professional learning communities at Turpen Elementary and Crownpoint Elementary. You have revitalized professional development and touched the lives of your teachers and students with your ingenuity. Thank you for bringing your passion for Lindamood-Bell instruction and the brain to Gallup for 2008-2009!
